Samples of IMPLEMENTED IOT SOLUTIONS ON THE SWITZERCLOUD

Integrators, cities, utilities and other partners are implementing various IoT projects with Switzercloud. A few of them are listed here.

Facility Management

Ismet Sopi is the CEO and owner of the Zurich-based company Facility24 GmbH. He had a vision to bring a smart IoT building solution to the market and needed help with the implementation. So he contacted Brunata AG, the company behind Switzercloud. Ismet Sopi had questions about the Internet of Things (IoT) and its possibilities. He inquired about existing solutions that could be interesting for his company.

Heating regulation from a distance

It is estimated that holiday apartments are used for around ten weeks a year, if they are not also rented out to third parties. In the mountains in particular, you want your apartment to be warm when you "move in" just for weekend. There are basically only two ways to achieve this goal. Either the heating simply runs all the time or you opt for an intelligent, remotely contriolled solution. The first variant requires a lot of unneccesary heating energy, costs more money and is probably harmful to the environment. Our customer has an apartment in Lenzerheide and chose the more intelligent IoT variant on the Switzercloud.

Plant monitoring

The municipality of Moosseedorf with 3,500 inhabitants maintains numerous infrastructures that are constantly monitored. Until now, faults were recorded directly on the respective system and transmitted to the responsible person via 2G SMS. This technology is outdated and Moosseedorf was looking for a new solution. Finally, the municipality decided on a smart and unique solution on the Switzercloud with LoRaWAN technology. The previous transmission modules were replaced by LoRaWAN® devices.

Parking monitoring

SH POWER in Canton Schaffhausen, Switzerland is a good example of how energy providers with practical IoT experience position themselves as providers of smart city applications. Towards this goal, SH POWER chose a smart parking solution from Switzercloud. In and around SH POWER headquarters in Schaffhausen, there are over 50 parking spaces managed by the utility itself, some of which include rentals to third parties. Regularly there are days when no parking is available. Sometimes the spaces are misused and frequently parking spaces remain occupied by users for several days.
